Choosing outfit colors according to the season of the year
The colors and hues of your outfit significantly impact the final appearance of your photographs. While some photographers still recommend wearing blue jeans and white T-shirts, some will claim that it is clothing in natural hues and neutral colors what will make your family photographs look outstanding. Neither is inherently right or wrong because it’s always essential to consider not only the outfit colors of all individuals but also the context – the surrounding environment, lighting, and season.
Having photo shoot in SPRING
In spring, nature bursts with all colors, especially vibrant green. Blossoming meadows are full of pink, purple, and red flowers and therefore wearing pastel shades of these tones looks great, especially because it creates a nice contrast with green tones.
On the contrary, wearing navy blue in the combination with predominantly green nature background may not be very flattering for your skin complexion as you might appear bluish-green. Besides blue, mustard, brick, and brown belong to the colors that don’t quite match well with spring pastel tones.
The best outfit colors for photo shoot in SUMMER
In summer, and particularly in late summer, the greenery begins to lose some of its intensity, and in some places, the grass turns yellow. The environment appears more neutral, allowing for a broader palette of colors to complement it. For example, blue, being the complementary color to yellow and orange, will look great with dry grasses and wheat fields.
Having photographs taken in AUTUMN
In autumn, the trees display a whole palette of beautiful colors. If you avoid black and dark blue and rather choose some of the nature colors, your photos will look great. From brown through beige, orange, mustard, olive green, to dark red. On the other hand, pastel colors like purple and pink are not ideal for autumn days.
The best outfit for a WINTER photo shoot
In Winter, the natural surroundings are mostly gray and dull, so go ahead and brighten it up with clothing in light or more vibrant colors. If you are lucky and you have your photo shoot in the snow, don’t hesitate to use bolder and darker colors that will contrast and won’t blend in with the background. Bundle up in sweaters and hats, and if possible, opt for coats instead of jackets.
The colors of your outfit, is something that has a crucial impact on the look of your photographs. The hues and shades can be chosen according to the season in which the photo shoot takes place. While pastel colors are the best option for spring and summer landscapes, warm and rich colors are more fitting for autumn and winter photo shooting.
